| Welcome to Sedgeworth Farms. We are located on 22 acres outside of Richmond, VA . I first learned about Miniature Australian Shepherds while visiting my parents in Idaho. I was looking for a new horse and came across the minis and knew I had to have one. Well, like they say, you can't have just one, so we now have eleven! And are slowly growing. I have trained dogs on and off for 20 years in Obedience and the Australian Shepherd has always been a favorite of mine. When I found it came in a miniature form I was smitten! We also have 2 Jack Russells from Ireland (one we co-own and does not live with us). We will be breeding our female in the fall 2005. The Irish Jacks are extremely calm house pets. They do not have the hunting instincts that American Jack Russells or the Parson Jack Russell does. They are not hyper and actually make very nice lap dogs. They are indoor dogs only. They are very small weighing only 10-15 lbs. Breeding dogs has always been a strong desire of mine, but I have struggled with the idea of adding to the over abundant pet population for many years. That is why it is so important that the puppies I produce only better the breed and go to loving homes. My dogs are not kennel dogs, they are family pets. My husband, son & I make sure they are always given something to do. From Agility to hiking in the woods, we always make sure they are thinking! Which is very important for the incredibly smart Herding breeds! Over the years we have rescued more cats and dogs than we could ever begin to count. We always spay or neuter them before they go on to their forever home. Rescuing homeless animals is something I have done since I was old enough to walk. Please rescue when you can!
